Peter Savill believes criticism of British racing's leadership from top sports promoter Barry Hearn demonstrates the exact reason the sport must quickly move on from its failing tripartite governance structure.

Hearn, a leader in his field for four decades overseeing success in darts, boxing and snooker, called on British racing to embrace radical change in order to thrive against a bleak economic outlook and mounting concerns for the industry, including uncompetitive prize-money, soaring costs and declining attendances and field sizes.

Former BHB chairman Savill was not prepared to join criticism of racing's leadership and instead reiterated the need for prompt change to the way the sport is governed.
