Paul Mulrennan endures sleepless night in hospital after Newcastle spill
Paul Mulrennan was off to catch up on some much-needed sleep following his release from Newcastle General Hospital on Saturday after enduring a very noisy night on an open ward shared with some patients apparently handcuffed to their beds.
The jockey got the all-clear after x-rays showed no bones were broken as a result of his spill from the Jim Goldie-trained Nicholas T at Newcastle on Good Friday, although it is anticipated he will be out of action for two weeks.
Mulrennan's agent Richard Hale said on Saturday morning: "I've just spoken to Paul who's fine but tired as I don't think he got any sleep at all. Evidently it was very noisy and some of the patients were handcuffed to their beds which sounds a bit scary.
"When you get taken off to A&E it's a bit of a lottery where you end up these days and I think he's glad he didn't have to stay in for longer. I would say that Paul will be out for around two weeks during which time he'll have to have a concussion test."
