Pat Healy expected to make full recovery after horse crashes into him at Navan
Photographer Pat Healy is expected to make a full recovery after being hit by a horse moments after the opening race at Navan on Sunday.
Only a few seconds after finishing a narrow runner-up, Entoucas veered left and crashed into the far rail colliding with Healy, who has been taken to hospital.
Healy was conscious leaving Navan racecourse for Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown and medical officer Frank Kenny expects him to make a full recovery.
Kenny said: "Pat was very stable leaving the racecourse and we were happy with him when he left for hospital. We have contacted the hospital and they are going to see him immediately.
"In regards to his injuries, they're probably down the right side of his chest. They're quite bad injuries but he is stable and he should make a full recovery."
Entoucas, trained by Joseph O'Brien, was beaten a neck by Gordon Elliott's Thatsy in the 2m4f maiden hurdle.
