ParisLongchamp on the horizon but don't expect LondonEpsom any time soon

The recent unveiling of the redevelopment work at Longchamp caught The Dikler's attention, particularly in light of the track's rebranding to accompany the €140 million forked out by France Galop.

Home to the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and a host of French racing's other biggest events, the course is now known as ParisLongchamp, rather than just plain old Longchamp, a tweak that predictably provoked some sniggering on social media.

The move also brought back memories of Newbury's short-lived bid to be known as The Racecourse Newbury, which was frequently ridiculed until the ill-conceived scheme was ditched after two years.
