British tourists eager to make a visit to Yellowstone Park can save themselves the airfare to the US and instead head to its new namesake somewhat closer to home in Newmarket.

The Hamilton Road property is the latest expansion of Hugo Palmer's empire and consists of an all-new 50 box yard, to add to the 100 the trainer has at his main base at Kremlin Cottage.

Explaining the naming of the yard, from which he is to be licensed to have runners rather than just being an overflow facility, Palmer said: "The yard owner Kevin Bailey and his builder are nicknamed the Bears and it was their idea to call it Yellowstone Park – it's a fun name.

"The horses moved in recently and it's a fantastic facility to have on the other side of town to our main yard; it gives us options. Many of the horses over there don't like going up and down Warren Hill every day and as it's pretty flat on racecourse side it suits them better. "

The 2,000 Guineas-winning-trainer added: "Yellowstone has 50 boxes at present but there is permission for another 14 in future. We're due to get the licence through soon and are very much looking forward to having our first runner from the yard."
