Palmer favours Derby route over Guineas for Royal Lodge winner

Godolphin's Best Of Days, as short as 16-1 with BoyleSports for the Qipco 2,000 Guineas after a gutsy win in Saturday's Royal Lodge Stakes, is considered more of an Investec Derby colt by Hugo Palmer, who may yet run his emerging ace in next month's Racing Post Trophy.

The well-regarded son of Azamour is generally 33-1 for the Derby, and the trainer, who won this year's 2,000 Guineas with Galileo Gold, said on Sunday: "He's taken the Royal Lodge really well and we even put the Breeders' Cup rug on him, although he won't be going there this year.
