Paisley Park is getting the Sprinter Sacre treatment after being given the all-clear by vets in Newmarket to resume work back with trainer Emma Lavelle.

The beaten Stayers' Hurdle favourite will wear a heart monitor in his work just as the champion two-mile chaser did after a similar heart irregularity.

Lavelle said on Tuesday: "All the tests were clear in Newmarket and he's come back with a heart monitor set which he'll wear when he starts back into exercise tomorrow.

"Celia Marr [who treated Sprinter Sacre] commented on just how big his heart was and some of the best horses are predisposed to this, making them that good but predisposed to electrical imbalances within their heart.

"Paisley Park rectified everything of his own accord which is very positive and only six per cent of horses have the symptoms reoccur."

While racing's coronavirus shutdown has robbed Paisley Park of regaining the winning thread this season in Britain after his defeat in defence of his Stayers' Hurdle crown last Thursday, the eight-year-old will wear the heart monitor before going on his summer holidays.

Lavelle added: "Regardless of him not running again this season it's still important we run these tests. He will do enough, doing a swinging canter, and as long as he's fine we will let him down for the summer."

Paisley Park joins other top performers in having had heart irregularities, including Gold Cup winner Denman, who made a full recovery to win a second Hennessy under top weight and finish second in two more Gold Cups.

Similarly Sprinter Sacre, who lost his unbeaten record over fences when pulled up in the 2013 Desert Orchid at Kempton, famously climbed back to the top of the two-mile chasing tree before retiring four years ago.
