'Ownership is not easy to sell anymore' - syndicate founder shares sport fears

Racehorse ownership is becoming increasingly difficult to sell due to “unsuitable” prize-money and with rising costs leaving owners feeling the pinch.

That was the warning of Ian Robinson, founder of syndicate Imperial Racing, who firmly believes the sport’s tripartite governance structure in Britain between the BHA, racecourses and horsemen, has to go before progress can be made.

The Racing Post on Monday reported the Racehorse Owners Association’s (ROA) concerns over the potential implications of an extended cost-of-living crisis, with Robinson expecting rises in fees to “bite deep” with small-scale and syndicate owners.
