The race is on to secure a spot in the Northern Lights Series final at Carlisle on Sunday, December 3.

Only a handful of qualifying opportunities remain for the five categories – 3m handicap chase, 2½m handicap chase, 2m handicap hurdle, 3m handicap hurdle and 2½m mares handicap hurdle – with each culminating in a £25,000 Class 2 event for those making the final cut.

The series are not confined exclusively to northern-trained horses, but in order to qualify horses are required to have started in at least two series qualifiers and been placed in the first eight on at least one occasion.

Qualification is specific to each category and cannot be mixed and matched.

A total of 12 races remain in the coming month across the various categories and the BHA will be communicating with trainers and owners via email and text message to ensure they are aware of any potential opportunities.

The BHA's head of racing, Paul Johnson, said: "The Northern Lights Series was created as an ongoing commitment by the industry to support jump racing in this region, with £125,000 on offer across the five series finals at Carlisle.

"The finals are fast approaching and we believe there are still significant opportunities out there for trainers to qualify their horses and to have a chance at scooping one of these valuable prizes.

"Any owners or trainers with partially or non-qualified horses who wish to find out more should contact the BHA Racing Department or visit the Racing Admin site for more information."
