It has been quite a season for trainer Charlie Appleby, who on Tuesday added a groundbreaking victory in the Melbourne Cup to his tally.

That win comes on the back of a glorious summer for the trainer, topped by a historic first Godolphin triumph in the Derby at Epsom with Masar.

Injury has kept Masar sidelined since, with the prognosis being the three-year-old would not race again until next year. So one of The Dikler’s colleagues was surprised when they received the following email from SkyBet last week.
