Newmarket trainer Chris Wall, a multiple big-race winner at home and abroad in a career spanning 36 years, is to quit after finding racing no longer financially viable.

Despite another solid season at Induna Stables bringing 20 winners and just under £340,000 in prize-money – the trainer's best since 2010 – the number of horses at the yard has decreased to the point of no return for Wall.

The 63-year-old, who has won at the highest level in America and Italy, has the capacity to train 60 horses but has found himself down in the teens.
