There is nothing wrong with betting - or wearing what you want while doing it

Even when you think something is slam-dunk obvious, it is inevitable there are those who will disagree.

In saying that, I'm not talking about the big questions, like the outcome of the next general election, the wisdom of Brexit, the merits of Scottish devolution or whether Energumene can bounce back in the Champion Chase. On all those subjects, there will be many who think one thing and plenty who think something else, both sides of the argument absolutely certain their position is correct.

Sometimes, however, you assume there will be consensus, only to be surprised.
