Presumably, they believe we're a gang of feckless ne'er-do-wells who are one ill-advised Super Heinz away from a cardboard box in a shop doorway: just the kind of people they can save with their wisdom and largesse. 

In fairness, I reckon some people do genuinely think I (and you) should be placed on some kind of register. Sometimes I wonder if they're right. What does my gambling say about me, my character and my belief systems?

With religion, it's easy. I always put myself down as an optimistic agnostic, which means I find it hard to believe there really is a supreme being but it would be nice to think there was, although he'd need to buck his ideas up (C of E in other words).
