Onetime Godolphin Derby hope Ghaiyyath set to return in French Group 3

If you had told Charlie Appleby back in the spring he was to win a first Derby this year he would have confidently pointed to the box containing Ghaiyyath.

The son of Dubawi was ahead of eventual Derby hero Masar in the Epsom pecking order at Appleby's yard at the start of the year but met with a setback in April that ruled him out of the Classic picture.

Masar has since joined him on the sidelines, but Ghaiyyath is set to leave the Godolphin rehab unit this month with the Group 3 Prix du Prince d'Orange at Longchamp pencilled in for his return.
