One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to watch on Saturday

Trainer

William Haggas has key runners across the big two meetings at Sandown and Haydock with Alenquer spearheading his team in the day's highlight, the Group 1 Coral-Eclipse (3.35).

Such is the strength in depth in the Eclipse, the Tattersalls Gold Cup winner is one of the outsiders in the field for the Newmarket trainer, who has made a total of 13 declarations on Saturday.

Haggas celebrated a four-timer at Haydock on Thursday and returns to that track with recent Pinnacle Stakes winner Sea La Rosa in the bet365 Lancashire Oaks (2.40) and short-priced favourite Gaassee in the big-field bet365 Old Newton Cup (3.15).

Jockey

Mishriff has been the horse of a lifetime for David Egan and the jockey has every reason to believe his mount has been overlooked in the betting in the Coral-Eclipse (3.35) at Sandown.

Egan has enjoyed his best days in the saddle on Mishriff with extremely valuable victories in the Saudi Cup, Sheema Classic and Juddmonte International making the now five-year-old the second highest-rated horse in the world last year.

The jockey will be on the highest-rated horse in the Eclipse and has rides in every race on the Sandown card with the hat-trick seeking Mitbaahy holding particularly strong claims for the Group 3 Coral Charge (1.50).

Horse

Sandown's card is bursting at the seams with Group 1 winners and there is a top-level scorer in action at Haydock too, with Eshaada out to prove her class in the bet365 Lancashire Oaks (2.40).

The Roger Varian-trained four-year-old escapes a penalty for last year's Fillies & Mares victory on British Champions Day, which came on similar ground to what is expected on Saturday.

Eshaada will need to leave her most recent run at Newbury, when only fifth on her comeback in May, well behind but she might have needed it and she is top-rated in the field on official figures.

Race

The Coral-Eclipse (3.35) serves up a compelling clash of the ages as star three-year-olds Vadeni and Native Trail take on some of the world's finest older horses at Sandown.

Stunning Prix du Jockey Club winner Vadeni has been supplemented at a cost of £50,000 by the Aga Khan and bids to give France a first Eclipse success since Javelot in 1960.

Native Trail is a Classic winner too, having won the Irish 2,000 Guineas, but the youngsters won't have it easy against an older brigade made up of multiple big-race winners Bay Bridge, Mishriff, Alenquer and Lord North.
