One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to watch on Saturday

One trainer

Andrew Balding has been firing in the winners of late – he is still operating at a fabulous strike-rate – and he remains a trainer to watch closely.

Sea The Stars colt Fox Tal is a lively outsider in the Royal Lodge (1.50), a race Balding won in 2014 with Elm Park, while impressive York winner Pivoine and capable gelding Zwayyan represent him in the Cambridgeshire (3.40).

Be More (4.15) is well-related and looks a debutante to watch, while Inclyne (4.50) can up her game after looking green on debut.

One jockey

Who else? Frankie Dettori is the man for the big occasion and he has a strong book of rides.

For starters, he gets the leg-up aboard unbeaten Scat Daddy colt Beatboxer in the Royal Lodge, a race won by this season's star three-year-old Roaring Lion last year.

They always say revenge is a dish best served cold, and Dettori will be hoping Queen Mary winner Signora Cabello can reverse Prix Morny form with Pretty Pollyanna in the Cheveley Park Stakes.

And then for the main course, the Cambridgeshire. John Gosden's Wissahickon has been well supported throughout the week and the unexposed three-year-old has a lot going for him in leg one of the autumn double.

One horse

After connections chose to avoid the step up to seven furlongs in the Moyglare Stud Stakes, 1,000 Guineas favourite Pretty Pollyanna will be out to cement her position at the head of the market in the Cheveley Park.

Michael Bell's filly ran on encouragingly behind Main Edition in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and she hasn't looked back since, bursting onto the scene with a runaway win in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes.

She showcased her courage as well as her class when batting off Signora Cabello in France last time and connections will be hoping she can snare a second Group 1.

One race

The Middle Park is shaping up to be just as exciting as the Dewhurst and, who knows, perhaps the winner could step up to contest that race over a furlong further on October 13.

Ten Sovereigns is the obvious place to start. Aidan O'Brien's juvenile made a mammoth impression when running away with a 25-runner Curragh maiden last month.

He duly stepped up by coasting away with the Group 3 Round Tower Stakes on his last start, but he'll have more on his plate this time around, with the speedy Jash boasting a similar profile with two starts and two dominant wins.

Sergei Prokofiev was Ballydoyle's talking horse at the start of the season, but he fluffed his lines when finishing last of five in the Phoenix Stakes on his most recent start and is on a retrieval mission.

Add in Gimcrack winner Emaraaty Ana, who will run for a new jockey and owner, Legends Of War and Rumble Inthejungle, and you've got a race to remember.
