One trainer

Roger Varian has four strong chances on the final day of the Qatar Goodwood festival, headed by Pilaster, who is seeking a second successive victory in the Lillie Langtry Stakes (3.00).

The four-year-old scored by a short head last season and has shaped well so far this year.

Newmarket-based Varian has two runners in the Unibet Stewards' Cup (3.40) as he looks to complete a summer sprint handicap double after Cape Byron's win in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot. Flavius Titus, who has won two of his three starts, is joined by Spanish City.

Bayroot is his final runner at the meeting (4.50), while Varian also has strong chances at Newmarket with Jaleel (3.50) and Manorah (5.00) as well as Dear Power (1.40) and exciting prospect Mutamaasik (3.55) at Chelmsford.

One jockey

Prior to Friday's results, Harry Bentley had ridden six winners at Goodwood in 2019 and he has a great chance of continuing his fine record on the Sussex Downs on Saturday with four rides.

Bentley's best chance could come in the Group 2 Lillie Langtry with Manuela De Vega. She was a tad disappointing in the Irish Oaks a fortnight ago but may be suited to this step up in distance.

Bentley also has fair claims with the consistent Gunmetal in the Stewards' Cup (3.40), while he rides Venturous in the opener (1.50) and Great Ambassador, who has gone close in two starts, in the maiden (4.15).

One horse

On his day the Nick Gifford-trained Didtheyleaveuoutto has looked like a real talent and he is a really interesting runner in the feature handicap at Galway (2.30).

Once a leading fancy for the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham, he did not quite build on his early-season promise as a novice and makes his first start since a midfield effort in the Betfair Hurdle.

He remains a talented, unexposed prospect and is an intriguing addition to the Galway line-up.

One race

The Stewards' Cup is always an intriguing punting puzzle and with a quality field of 28 runners it has not disappointed. It is a race that requires a highly talented sprinter as well as plenty of luck in running as there are usually a fair few hard-luck stories.

The Charlie Hills-trained Khaadem is the likely favourite, but there have been only three winning outright market leaders in more than 20 years.
