One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to follow on Saturday

Trainer

John Gosden and son Thady do not have any runners at the Breeders' Cup, but they will be looking for one last hurrah on home soil as the Flat turf season draws to a close at Doncaster.

The Clarehaven stable has won the Virgin Bet November Handicap (2.40) a record six times, most recently with Royal Line in 2018, and rely on First Light this time.

The three-year-old colt, winner of two of his last four starts, had a progressive profile before finishing a well-beaten fifth in a Listed race at Ascot last month and looks one of the more unexposed contenders.

Jockey

Harry Cobden regularly has a strong book of rides at meetings in the West Country and that is the case again at Wincanton's Badger Beer meeting.

The jockey has five rides on the card including Sole Pretender (3.35) in the Elite Hurdle.

Cobden has switched to Mick Pastor following Bravemansgame's defection from the Grade 2 Rising Stars Novices' Chase (1.50), while Knappers Hill bids to maintain his unbeaten record in the 1m7f novice hurdle (1.15).

Horse

Few horses have mixed hurdles and fences as successfully as the popular Sceau Royal, who bids for a third win in the Grade 2 Unibet Elite Hurdle (3.35) at Wincanton.

The Grade 1 winner, who has won nine of his 21 hurdle races and six of his 17 chases, took his career earnings past £500,000 when making a successful comeback at Kempton last month.

He won the Elite Hurdle in 2016 and last year and will relish the good ground in his attempt for a third win in the race.

Race

The famous Grand National fences make an earlier return than usual with the Betway Grand Sefton Chase (2.15) at Aintree taking up its new slot on the calendar.

Traditionally run on the Becher Chase card in December, the Grand Sefton has the stage to itself and a classy cast has assembled headed by Midlands Grand National winner Time To Get Up.

Hogan's Height has another crack at a race he won two years ago, while last season's Grand National-winning trainer Henry de Bromhead sends over Spyglass Hill from Ireland.
