One trainer, one horse, one jockey and one race to watch today
One trainer
Thursday's action at Newbury seemed to indicate Nicky Henderson is ready to start rolling out some of his stable stars, and the Elite Hurdle (3.00) at Wincanton will be the first port of call for We Have A Dream, arguably the leading British juvenile hurdler of last season.
In the same race Henderson also saddles the talented Verdana Blue, who was an easy winner of a Listed contest at Kempton last month.
With a stable replete with stars, Henderson is once again the one to beat in the British jump trainers' championship.
One horse
Footpad was an imperious winner of all five starts over fences last season and bids to extend his unbeaten record as a chaser at Naas on Saturday (12.30).
The Willie Mullins-trained star landed the Racing Post Arkle in scintillating fashion last season. Saint Calvados, who finished a distant fourth at Cheltenham after racing too exuberantly, reopposes.
Another brilliant display could see Footpad creep closer to Altior in the betting for next year's Champion Chase.
One jockey
Daryl Jacob has thrived since becoming first jockey to Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, and he could enjoy another excellent weekend in the famous two-tone green silks with rides on We Have A Dream and Terrefort, who runs at Sandown on Sunday.
He's also picked up a good ride in the Grade 2 Rising Star Novices' Chase at Wincanton (2.25) on Majestic Moll, who made a successful start over fences last month.
The Grand National-winning jockey, who landed Grade 1s on the likes of Bristol De Mai, L'Ami Serge and Sceau Royal last season, looks set for another stellar campaign.
One race
The Badger Ales Trophy Handicap Chase (3.35 Wincanton) is always an exciting spectacle and this year is no exception.
Paul Nicholls has the top two in the market, Present Man and El Bandit, and the Somerset trainer will be hopeful of landing a ninth Badger Ales at his local track.
All the big yards are represented, Colin Tizzard and Nicky Henderson have also declared runners for the 3m1f Listed chase.
