Official Racing Post in-running comments – contained in the results pages in the newspaper and on racingpost.com as well as the Racing Post app – can provide invaluable punting pointers for readers, and even more so if they include phrases or words that are slightly more unusual than can normally be the case.

Godolphin had two winners on Monday, and while most eyes were drawn to Mark Of Approval's seamless win at Southwell, it was Silken Dancer 127 miles away at Windsor who forged his name into many a notebook for his performance immediately after the race rather than during it.

There isn't anything out of the ordinary about a Godolphin-owned three-year-old maiden winner – see recent examples Secret Advisor, Oasis Charm and Desert Frost to name but a few – but Silken Dancer was given the comment 'took several furlongs to pull up' in the post-race analysis, highlighting his significant potential.

According to our Racing Post database colleagues, he became only the second horse since 2010 to have received such an in-running comment in the post-race analysis.

Sent off at 8-1 and donning Godolphin's lesser-spotted red cap, the impressive winner forged to a two-length victory over stablemate Cross Step.

Two of a kind!

That only other horse in the last seven years to prompt a similar response from Racing Post in-running judges was the Ed Walker-trained Sabador, who according to our in-running comments 'took 6f to pull up' after storming to a first win at Kempton in March.

The Kendargent gelding pulled way too hard on seasonal reappearance in the mile handicap at Leicester on Tuesday night, but he ran on encouragingly in the closing stages behind Naval Warfare.

THE WACKIER IN-RUNNING COMMENTS

Bag for life?

"Tracked leaders on outside, shaken up when vaulted plastic bag 2f out, soon ridden, kept on final furlong, never able to challenge"

The comments following Collingham Park's third-place finish behind Havana Grey in the 5f novice stakes at Ayr on Monday.

Swanning about

"Led, hurdled swan after 5f, headed halfway, soon pushed along, weakened over 3f out"

The in-running view after Tight Lipped and jockey Ross Birkett somehow managed to clear an intruding swan during a race at Kempton in 2015.

Bucking bronco

"Slowly into stride, bucking and kicking and immediately unrideable, pulled up after 1f"

Thunder Snow decided he just wasn't in the mood for the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. The son of Helmet didn't sustain any form of injury and his antics have left the Godolphin team baffled.
