One jockey, one trainer, one horse and one race to watch on Saturday

Trainer

After a challenging Royal Ascot, John and Thady Gosden announced a sabbatical from regular big-race jockey Frankie Dettori but having rekindled their partnership, they bid for glory in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes (3.35).

Dettori partners Emily Upjohn, who missed the Irish Oaks last weekend due to travel issues, while the Gosdens will also be represented in the race by Mishriff, who was narrowly beaten by Vadeni in the Coral-Eclipse last time.

Narrow Britannia Stakes runner-up Saga will also bid to get back to winning ways in the Porsche Handicap (4.45) on what could be a crucial day for the Gosdens at the Berkshire track.

Jockey

Alongside the plum ride on Emily Upjohn in the King George, Frankie Dettori has a strong book of rides on the supporting card at Ascot.

He rides Lezoo in the Group 3 Princess Margaret Keeneland Stakes (1.50), with the pair having recorded an eyecatching success at Newmarket this month before finishing second in the Group 2 Duchess of Cambridge Stakes.

Dettori also partners Finn's Charm for Charlie and Mark Johnston, who finished fourth at the track last time, in the Listed Winkfield Stakes (4.10).

Horse

The highly-regarded Claymore is the horse to watch in the Group 2 Sky Bet York Stakes at York (3.15).

The Jane Chapple-Hyam trained three-year-old bumped into Native Trail in the Craven Stakes on his return before he performed poorly in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains behind Modern Games.

However, he was impressive at Royal Ascot when beating odds-on favourite Reach For The Moon in the Hampton Court Stakes under Adam Kirby, but will be ridden by David Egan on the Knavesmire.

Race

The King George (3.35) is undoubtedly the race of the day, which features a clash of the generations including Arc winner Torquator Tasso, Irish Derby hero Westover and last season's Juddmonte International victor Mishriff.

Unlucky Oaks second Emily Upjohn also runs after missing last weekend's Irish Oaks, while Hardwicke Stakes winner Broome and the popular Pyledriver, who will be ridden by PJ McDonald, complete an ultra-competitive field.
