One horse, one trainer, one jockey and one race to follow on Friday

Horse

The highly regarded Inspiral has taken the juvenile fillies' division by storm this year and bids to maintain her unbeaten record with a first Group 1 victory in the bet365 Fillies' Mile (3.35).

The daughter of Frankel has improved on each start since winning on debut on Newmarket's July Course in June and most recently outclassed her rivals when an easy winner of the Group 2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster last month.

The John and Thady Gosden-trained two-year-old already heads the Qipco 1,000 Guineas market and is odds-on for Friday's race, in which her jockey Frankie Dettori goes for a record-extending seventh win.

Trainer

Should Inspiral fail to deliver, it could be a memorable day for burgeoning trainer James Ferguson, who goes in search of his first top-level success with the unbeaten Mise En Scene in the Fillies' Mile (3.35).

Ferguson, son of former jumps trainer John, picked up a first Group-race victory with the daughter of Siyouni when she made it two from two with a narrow win in the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood last month.

The trainer's other runner on the day comes from York, where Red Genesis contests the concluding 7f handicap (5.25).

Jockey

The heat is on to become champion jockey with only eight days left in the title race, and Oisin Murphy could make it a key day by potentially eliminating the challenge from William Buick for a third successive crown.

Murphy, who started Thursday 12 wins clear of Buick, has six well-fancied rides, headlined by Mise En Scene in the Fillies' Mile (3.35), while he gets the leg up on likely favourite Hierarchy in the Cornwallis Stakes (1.50).

Banshee and Boltaway are not without hope in the Oh So Sharp Stakes (2.25) and Old Rowley Cup (4.10) respectively and while Ocean Road may be an outsider in the concluding Pride Stakes (4.40), Murphy could have all but extinguished Buick's faint title hopes if among the winners.

Race

Away from Newmarket the jumps season kicks fully into gear as Chepstow's two-day meeting begins, and a potential star for the future could be unearthed in the Grade 2 Persian War Novices' Hurdle (2.45).

Multiple Grade 1-winning hurdler Thyme Hill and the smart McFabulous have won the last two runnings of the race and Paul Nicholls could bid for a fifth win since 2011 with Paso Doble, who got off the mark over hurdles in May.

However, it's an open contest and although Nicky Henderson has never won the race, he could end that with First Street, a wide-margin winner at Warwick last time out, after which the trainer earmarked this as his next target.
