Liam Treadwell funeral to be held at Arundel Cathedral on Wednesday

The funeral of Grand National-winning jockey LiamTreadwell takes place in a private service at Arundel Cathedral in West Sussex on Wednesday.

There will be a live stream of the service available for those who cannot attend, and mourners are expected to line the route to the cathedral for the Sussex-born rider, who was apprenticed on the Flat to Amanda Perrett's stable in Pulborough before turning to jump racing.

Treadwell, 34, died last month at his home in Billingsley near Bridgnorth, and his family announced a day of remembrance will be arranged for friends and family after further easing of coronavirus restrictions.

The jockey, who shot to fame with his 100-1 Grand National win on Mon Mome in 2009, had learned how to ride at trainer John Dunlop's Castle Stables in Arundel.

The funeral is family flowers only, but any donations can be made in person on the day or via HD Tribe, Funeral Directors, 19 West St, Storrington, Pulborough RH20 4DZ.

All donations will be shared between the Ebony Horse Club in Brixton and Arundel Castle Cricket Foundation.

Oisin Murphy heads line-up for Racing Welfare's Glorious Goodwood preview night

Tickets can now be purchased for Racing Welfare's virtual Qatar Goodwood Festival preview evening, which will be broadcast live online, starting at 7.30pm on Thursday July 23.

Nick Luck will host the event, which is being held in association with the Sporting Life, and features a panel including Oisin Murphy, Andrew Balding, Tanya Stevenson, tipster Matt Brocklebank plus betting insight from Sky Bet's Michael Shinners.

This follows Racing Welfare's successful Royal Ascot preview evening, and looks ahead to the five-day meeting at the West Sussex track starting on July 28.

Tickets can be purchased for £10 here, with all proceeds going to the charity. Tickets also include a digital brochure, guide to the evening and free entry to a prize draw for four tickets at next year's Glorious Goodwood festival.
