No matter how things look in the future, there cannot and must not be a return to the past. How things were is not how they should be again.

PJ McDonald was on the money when admitting had it not been for racing's coronavirus shutdown it is unlikely anyone would have considered introducing the rule that prevents jockeys in Britain from riding at more than one meeting per day. The circumstances were unexpected. So, too, perhaps, has been the positive response from those it most impacts.

It is true there is not unanimity and it is understandable why the most prolific riders, particularly those without children, are loathe to see the current restrictions extend into the future. It is also possible there could be some who consider mounting legal challenges on restraint of trade grounds.
