Five huge jumps stars who are set to run this weekend

With the jumps season in full flow, another packed weekend of action is on the cards with top-class runners lining up at Aintree, Sandown and Huntingdon. Here are five star horses to get excited about

Native River

The 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup hero returns in the Many Clouds Chase (2.40) at Aintree for a thrilling rematch with rival Might Bite.

Native River has not won since that landmark feat but finished fourth in last season’s Cheltenham Festival showpiece and always performs well for trainer Colin Tizzard.

It will be the nine-year-old’s first appearance at the Merseyside track since landing the Mildmay Novices' Chase at the Grand National festival three and a half years ago.

Un De Sceaux

Fan favourite Un De Sceaux won the Tingle Creek Chase (3.00) in 2016 and the 11-year-old bids to become the oldest horse to land the Sandown feature.

He was last seen defeating stablemate Min in the Punchestown Champion Chase in April and has won 23 of his 32 races, with ten of them coming at Grade 1 level.

He had to settle for second in last year’s contest, finishing four lengths behind Altior, but looks sure to put up another hearty display against the likes of market leader Defi Du Seuil and Waiting Patiently.

One For Arthur

The 2017 Grand National hero One For Arthur has not won since conquering Aintree but returns to the site of his famous win for the Becher Handicap Chase (1.30).

The ten-year-old finished sixth behind Tiger Roll in last season's National and showed plenty of life when fourth at Kelso on his seasonal return.

Lucinda Russell's representative retains plenty of his old stamina and could put up a bold bid against the likes of Mulcahys Hill and Charlie Hall Chase winner Ballyoptic.

Summerville Boy

Summerville Boy bids to re-establish his place back at the top table with victory in the Henry VIII Novices' Chase (1.50) at Sandown, the scene of his first top-level victory.

Having defeated Kalashnikov in the Grade 1 Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown and the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in 2018, Summerville Boy looked destined to be the next big thing for Tom George.

However, he stalled somewhat last season, beating only six runners in his four starts and losing by a combined total of more than 84 lengths.

However, the seven-year-old showed signs of life with a rousing win on his chasing debut at Uttoxeter last month.

La Bague Au Roi

La Bague Au Roi bids to return to form in the Fitzdares Peterborough Chase (2.00) at Huntingdon on Sunday after being pulled up at Wetherby last month.

The Warren Greatrex-trained mare enjoyed a stellar campaign last season with victories over the likes of Lostintranslation and RSA Chase winner Topofthegame.

She has failed to win either of her last two starts but has won four Graded races and has twice won comfortably at Huntingdon.
