The next Noble Yeats? Aintree ace owner reveals another likely National lad
Paul Byrne’s uncanny eye for a Grand National prospect was again evident in Mr Incredible's Classic Chase performance on Saturday and the astute owner has now nominated Corbetts Cross as his horse for the 2024 Aintree showpiece.
Byrne has done some especially shrewd business in recent seasons, famously selling Noble Yeats to Robert Waley-Cohen before last year’s Grand National. JP McManus also bought The Shunter from Byrne in 2021, and he was recently revealed to have purchased So Scottish and Filey Bay from him.
Mr Incredible’s game effort in chasing home Iwilldoit at Warwick after jumping off ponderously, strongly suggested Byrne has identified another Aintree candidate for the April 15 Randox-backed showpiece. However, he also demonstrated his ambitious long-term vision by revealing that Corbetts Cross, who won earlier on Saturday at Fairyhouse, has been earmarked for the 2024 Grand National.
