Canyon, Rockerfeller and Harry set for rematch in Stayers Hurdle

Nichols Canyon, Lil Rockerfeller and Unowhatimeanharry, the first three home in the Stayers Hurdle at Cheltenham last month, are set to clash again in the Grade 1 Ladbrokes Champion Stayers Hurdle at Punchestown on Thursday.

Willie Mullins, trainer of Nichols Canyon, will also be represented by Shaneshill, Clondaw Warrior and Footpad in the 3m event for which 12 horses were declared yesterday.

Gordon Elliott will also be four-handed with Sutton Place, Jury Duty, De Plotting Shed and Lieutenant Colonel.

Great Field, trained by Mullins for JP McManus and unbeaten in three starts over fences, heads a cast of nine for the other Grade 1 event on tomorrow’s card, the Ryanair Novice Chase over two miles.

The ground before racing on Tuesday was declared as Good to Yielding on the Hurdle, Chase and Bumper courses, while the Cross Country course was Good to Firm. Showers are expected before racing on Thursday.
