Newmarket Town Council reaffirms position on Hatchfield Farm development

John Gosden said Newmarket would become "a bolt-on town to Cambridge" if Lord Derby's long running plans to build 400 homes at Hatchfield Farm in the town were implemented.

The champion trainer was speaking at a Newmarket Town Council meeting on Monday evening where the council voted 12-3 to reaffirm its opposition to the development, just as it had first done back in 2010.

Hatchfield Farm was back on the agenda after the High Court had asked for the application to be redetermined as part of the ongoing assessment of the case by secretary of state for housing, communities and local government James Brokenshire.
