Newbury and Plumpton set to hold morning inspections with heavy rain forecast
Newbury and Plumpton's Wednesday fixtures are the latest to be threatened by the heavy rainfall generated by Storm Brendan, which claimed Exeter on Tuesday.
Both courses have had similar amounts of persistent overnight rain to Exeter, which was cancelled after a 7am inspection found the course was waterlogged in places.
Newbury, officially described as soft, was hit with 11mm of rain on Monday and had patchy outbreaks on Tuesday ahead of forecast "more persistent" rain overnight, which is set to clear around 7am, an hour before the inspection. The rest of the day is expected to be dry.
Plumpton, which also holds a 8am inspection and is officially heavy, soft in places, reported Monday's rainfall totalled 10mm before dry weather in daylight hours on Tuesday, with clerk of the course Mark Cornford reporting: "I walked the course and there was no standing water."
The forecast is not so bright with showers and overnight rain possibly totalling 8-12mm before any lingering rain on raceday is due to clear by late morning.
There are no reported problems ahead of Punchestown's rescheduled meeting, while the two all-weather meetings at Wolverhampton and Southwell will go ahead as planned.
