New Bay still in frame for Leopardstown as rainfall hits course

Leopardstown manager Pat Keogh welcomed yesterday's heavy rainfall as he confirmed New Bay another potential addition for what is shaping up to be a spectacular Qipco Irish Champion Stakes.

Before the deluge the ground was good to firm, firm in places on the inside track at the Dublin venue, with the outer track, which is used for the Champion and Matron Stakes, good to firm.

There is more rain forecast for the area into tomorrow, but it could then be a settled week in advance of the third edition of Longines Irish Champions Weekend.
