Names to note, including a potential Cheltenham Festival dark horse
With our expert race readers watching – and writing a descriptive in-running comment for – every horse who runs in Britain and Ireland, there are three different categories used to denote those who are most appealing with the future in mind.
Members' Club Ultimate subscribers can add the names of the horses mentioned to their Racing Post Horse Tracker and will then receive email alerts when they are entered or declared again.
On their next start, the horses will be flagged in Signposts, which can be found in the Racing Post newspaper or online as part of Members' Club on raceday.

Did well in the circumstances
Corach Rambler
Fourth, Newbury, November 26
Had just worked his way into a threatening position when making a mess of the third last, after which he was up against it. However, this was a solid effort on ground which was faster than ideal and longer distances and softer ground should see him in a better light. His trainer knows what it takes to win over the big fences at Aintree in April and he is available at around 20-1 for the National.

Happygolucky
Third, Newcastle, November 26
Ran a corker on his first outing since winning a 3m1f handicap at the 2021 Aintree Grand National meeting, arguably shaping second best, with the effort of trying to serve it up to the winner from the fifth-last seeming to tell on him in the closing stages. Hopefully his problems are behind him as he's already smart and probably capable of even better.

Eyecatcher
Half Dozen
Third, Newbury, November 25
Caught the eye on this second run over hurdles, allowing the principals to get away from him before staying on nicely without being given an unduly hard time. He will likely improve over further.
Watch Half Dozen put up an improved performance on his second outing
Ocean Symphony
Fourth, Dundalk, November 25
Closely related to a 1m2f winner and a half-sister to a stack of other winners, she showed more than enough on this debut run to suggest she can win races.

Vikki Wall
Third, Dundalk, November 25
This first foal of an unraced half-sister to a couple of winners (from 6f-1m1f in France) caught the eye, despite meeting trouble in the closing stages. She should stay 7f and she's likely to improve.

Sailor's Warning
Fifth, Dundalk, November 22
A home-bred daughter of Dawn Approach who should stay further. She kept on to good effect on this debut and should improve for the experience.

Promising
Comfort Zone
First, Navan, November 27
Is a half-brother to a dual hurdle winner and he created a good impression on this hurdle debut. His jumping was solid and the distance he put between himself and the rest suggests Paddy Power's initial Triumph Hurdle quote of 20-1 was generous. He looks a thorough stayer over this trip and that will help in March. This was arguably the best display by a juvenile on either side of the Irish Sea this season and he's one to follow with interest.

Grangeclare West
First, Navan, November 27
Turned this into a procession on hurdle debut after a lengthy absence. He travelled powerfully and the way he eased to the front suggested he is a potential top-notcher. The Grade 1 Lawlor's Of Naas Novice Hurdle over this trip in January is likely to be his next port of call, a race his trainer has now won seven times. He looks a stayer but might have enough class for the Ballymore.

Bass Rock
First, Carlisle, November 27
Was useful over hurdles but is likely to be a good bit better over fences, which is perhaps not the biggest surprise given his yard. This was an impressive chase debut, particularly as he stays much further, jumping well and settling matters quickly once in front.
