East Lothian Council spent £100,000 in its failed bid to claw back nearly £10,000 from the salary of Musselburgh chief executive Bill Farnsworth, it has been claimed.

John Prideaux, the former chairman of the Lothians Racing Syndicate (LRS) that managed the track along with East Lothian councillors, said the Standards Commission and Audit Scotland should investigate.

The claims, which the council has described as being "not correct", are the latest in the long-running saga that has beset the racecourse.
