She came via Munich to conquer the Curragh, Galway and Longchamp, and now Princess Zoe is poised to lay siege on Royal Ascot as Tony Mullins seeks to relieve Stradivarius of his Gold Cup throne.

The formidable grey mare ascended to the summit of the stayers' realm last season, and Mullins believes the return to 2m4f will see his stable star in better effect than she's shown in her opening two starts of the campaign.

As long as there is no firm in the going description, he is intent on a Gold Cup tilt, with the small matter of the John and Thady Gosden-trained three-time title-holder standing in his way.
