Jonathan Moore is optimistic that basing himself permanently on home soil in Ireland can reap rewards following his decision to end his association with Rebecca Curtis.

One of the most promising prospects in the weighing room, the 23-year-old had been appointed as Curtis's stable jockey after a high-profile success on the Welsh trainer's Irish Cavalier at the 2016 Punchestown festival.

However, that partnership has now run its course and the Wexford native will seek to further develop his career with the support of Irish stables such as that of Noel Meade.

Moore, who partnered Irish Cavalier to beat Menorah and Cue Card in last year's Charlie Hall Chase, said: "I'm excited by the challenge of spreading my wings now I'm fully dedicated to riding in Ireland.

"I'll be working as hard as I can to ride as many winners as possible and hopefully Noel will continue to support me with a few nice spare rides on the big days – his team is extremely strong."

He added: "I rode Disko to finish third at Leopardstown last Christmas in a Grade 1 and it's good to know Noel has faith in me to take those chances if those opportunities arise."

Curtis and Moore teamed up to win the Grade 2 Reynoldstown Novices' Chase with Bigbadjohn in February, but the Pembrokeshire-based trainer's lack of firepower is cited by Moore as attributing to the parting of ways.

"The decision came after riding at Ffos Las earlier this month." he explained.

"I never moved there permanently, instead I flew there and back when required, but Rebecca is a bit quieter than she had previously been and Noel is busier than he ever was, so the decision was made to stay in Ireland."

Moore, who rode 26 winners in Britain last season, added: "Rebecca and I are still on good terms, but it's nice to be on home soil full-time."

Regarding his riding arrangements in Ireland, Moore is hopeful doors will open as a result of his decision.

He added: "Hopefully more opportunities will present themselves now I'm fully committed to this side of the water.

"I ride at Noel's three or four mornings a week and spend the rest of my time with Paul Nolan, Thomas Gibney and Liz Doyle. Ciaran O'Toole is my agent and I feel we work well in achieving our best."
