Josh Moore expects to be back riding in six weeks after fracturing three vertebrae in his lower back in a fall at Worcester on Monday.

Moore fell from Come On You, trained by his father Gary, in the opening 2m7f chase, but had been discharged from hospital by the time his brother – and temporary chauffeur – Jamie had finished riding on the card and spent the night in his own bed.

Speaking yesterday an upbeat Moore said: "I've got transverse fractures of L1, L2 and L3, not the actual vertebrae but the wings have come off, so it's not too bad. It'll probably be around six weeks, I'm not entirely sure, I only saw the consultant yesterday afternoon and he gave me a rough idea.
