Millie Wonnacott expects to be passed fit to return to action after 20 months on the sidelines with a broken neck, although the promising rider will take out a licence on the Flat instead of making a comeback over jumps.

Wonnacott broke her neck in March of last year when she was unseated from Kansas City Chief in the Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham Festival. She suffered two fractures to her C1 vertebra in the incident.

Speaking to the Front Runner, she said: “I think it was just the way I landed. I've watched the video over and over. It makes you think, how has so much damage occurred from that tiny, little spill?
