Michael Madgwick strikes with another 100-1 shot as Miss Recycled springs shock
Miss Recycled was a surprise winner at Brighton on Tuesday when returning at 100-1 in the mile handicap.
The filly had beaten just nine of the 45 rivals she had faced in her previous five races and was having her first outing since last October.
But she came with a strong late run under Tom Marquand to catch Joyful Dream close home for a short-head victory.
"That's my second 100-1 winner," trainer Michael Madgwick said on Sky Sports Racing. "Multitask won at 100-1 when he was a two-year-old.
"She's taken a long time to come to herself. Her half-sister Tommy's Geal was a very good filly. All I said to Tom was to give her a chance. She always works well at home."
Marquand admitted he had been less than confident and said: "I'd have been a long way off if you'd asked me what I thought beforehand.
"Michael said just drop her in and give her some manners early and see how we get on. From a couple down I was quietly confident that I was creeping into the race quite nicely. Fair play, she stuck her neck out pretty well in the end."
