Joao Moreira got his spring carnival off to a flying start with a win at Flemington on Saturday before expressing his belief that Heartbreak City has a good chance of lifting another Melbourne Cup for Ireland.

The star Hong Kong-based rider jetted in to partner Heartbreak City in a workout on Saturday morning at trainer Tony Martin's request, before having a handful of rides at Flemington.

After landing the Group 3 Sensis Stakes on Sheidel, Moreira revealed he had been delighted with Heartbreak City earlier at Werribee.
