Market movers: three to take the eye of punters this evening

There may have been Royal Ascot clues on show at Ascot this afternoon but this evening's sport is lower key. The action comes from Brighton (4.25 start), Dundalk (5.30) and Bath (5.45). Here are three horses to watch

Nigg Bay was as big as 20-1 overnight but is now no bigger than 7-1 and the market confidence is understandable. The four-year-old nearly shed his maiden tag here two starts ago over a furlong further in a first-time visor and the return of that headgear coupled with the drop in trip – he led until the final strides over a furlong further – suggest everything is in his favour for a big run.

Rivas Rob Roy has been backed from 22-1 into 8-1 but with him it is harder to see the reason why. His career best effort came here last year, on just his second start, in a 6f maiden. But in five starts since he has beaten just 14 horses and finished no better than fourth. His mark has dropped to 62 and the market suggests a decent effort is expected.

Another who has been well supported this evening is Dilinger, who has been backed into 9-2 favouritism from 10-1. He finished no better than seventh in three maidens last year and it is the market rather than the formbook that suggests an opening mark of 52 is viewed as favourable.
