Ghaiyyath on top of the world at York

There was no finer sight during the Flat season than the world's top-rated turf horse Ghaiyyath in full flow. In the Juddmonte International at York, the Godolphin gladiator was untouchable as he left a top-class field toiling with a remorseless display.

With his front-running tactics well established with Group 1 victories in the Coronation Cup and the Coral-Eclipse, where he beat Enable, everybody knew what to expect from Ghaiyyath. Stopping it, on the other hand, proved a different matter.

Not quite gone in 60 seconds, but Ghaiyyath was quickly in the lead and never saw another rival. While William Buick was majestic at Sandown, showing the timing of a Swiss watchmaker to upset Enable's legions of followers, the jockey did not need to be quite as precise on this occasion.
