Ludlow's jumps meeting on Wednesday is subject to a 7am inspection due to the threat of frost.

The seven-race card is scheduled to start at 12.30 and clerk of the course Simon Sherwood, speaking on Tuesday afternoon, said: "We'd have raced today, but the forecast is so varied and some places it says -3C and others it's 2C.

"It would be silly if we went down to -3C and had a hiccup, if I didn't give people a warning it's a possibility.

"It went down to 0C or 0.5C last night, but there was no frost and it was nice and warm today. The trouble is when you're out in the sticks a bit, they say -3C and it could suddenly dip to -5C and you're in trouble.

"There's a bit of mist and fog around in the morning, so it doesn't look like it will warm up for a while. If it went to -4C or -5C and we had mist sitting on us then we might be in trouble."

Sherwood added: "If it's around 0C we're fine and I should know by 6.30am whether we're totally clear or if we need to sit for an hour and see what happens."
