The Newmarket racing industry's marathon fight to stop Lord Derby's controversial housing development plans for Hatchfield Farm in the town may not be over, despite the government giving the proposals the green light.

After 12 years of public inquires, judicial reviews and high court appeals, Robert Jenrick, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, has sided with the latest inspector of the plans Richard Schofield.

Jenrick has given Derby the go ahead to build 400 houses - on a greenfield site in the north east of the town.
