Lester Piggott statue up for auction at Sir Peter O'Sullevan Trust awards
A solid silver statue of the legendary Lester Piggott will be the headline auction lot at the annual Sir Peter O'Sullevan Trust awards lunch on November 21 at the Dorchester Hotel in London.
The eight lots also include the breeches worn by Sammy Jo Bell when she won the Leger Legends race at Doncaster in September and two tickets for the men's semi-finals on the second Friday at Wimbledon next July.
A five-night trip to Dubai taking in World Cup night in 2020 will also go under the hammer along with hospitality for ten at Leopardstown for the Irish Gold Cup on February 2.
Original works by artists Johnny Jonas and Katie O'Sullivan are set to be sold, as is the original of the Trust's 2019 Christmas card, Riding Home for Christmas, by Sarah Aspinall.
Cash bids will be accepted on the day, while those interested in purchasing the Lester Piggott statue may also do so by emailing nigel@earthsummit.demon.co.uk. Email bidding will close at 5pm on November 19.
The lunch also features the annual Sir Peter O'Sullevan Award, won last year by Aidan O'Brien. Past winners include John Gosden, AP McCoy, Sir Henry Cecil and sports writer Hugh Mcllvanney.
