Bangor calls off Tuesday card as Newton Abbot inspects for Thursday
The recent wet spell continues to disrupt racing across Britain with Tuesday's meeting at Bangor the latest casualty and Newton Abbot inspecting for Thursday's fixture.
Course officials at Bangor made the decision to cancel racing after the course failed an inspection on Monday morning when the track was still waterlogged.
Bangor had 75mm of rain in a 24-hour period from Friday into Saturday and an early decision was made with water on parts of the course.
Newton Abbot will inspect at 4pm on Tuesday for Thursday's fixture with the course waterlogged in places after 41mm of rain over the weekend.
The Devon track is at serious risk of losing its third consecutive fixture due to heavy rain.
Clerk of the course Jason Loosemore said: "We're struggling to be optimistic. We're heavy, waterlogged in a few places with more rain forecast. We don't want any more rain and we're pinning our hopes on it skirting south of us.
"It's the third meeting on the trot we risk losing and financially it would be bad news as we lost one in June as well. Losing one fixture is significant but four would be desperate.
"It's been a very wet time. We've had 168mm of rain this month on top of 125mm in September and the same amount in August. Taunton, Wincanton and Exeter are courses near us that have welcomed the rain, but we've been watering all summer."
Monday's fixtures at Leicester and Redcar were called off in advance due to waterlogging.
