Confirmed runners and riders for the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville
Earthlight will have to overcome Golden Horde and Space Blues if he is to extend his unbeaten run to seven in the Group 1 Larc Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville on Sunday.
The Andre Fabre-trained three-year-old secured two Group 1 successes as a juvenile, both by a neck, and made a winning start to this season when landing a Listed race at the track last month.
Mickael Barzalona will once again partner Earthlight, as he has done in all of his previous starts, and this will be a fifth trip to Deauville for the Godolphin-owned son of Shamardal.
One of Earthlight's Group 1 victories came in the Middle Park Stakes at the expense of the Golden Horde, who bids for revenge under Adam Kirby.
Trained by Clive Cox, Golden Horde was an impressive winner of the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot and was not disgraced when third to Oxted in the July Cup last time.
Golden Horde kept on well inside the final furlong on both of those occasions and could benefit from the slight step up in trip to six and a half furlongs.
Space Blues, winner of the Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last week, bids for a fourth consecutive victory, and was third in this race last season for Charlie Appleby and William Buick.
Kevin Stott achieved the biggest win of his career so far when guiding Hello Youmzain home in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot and the pair are on the hunt for another Group 1 victory.
Aidan O'Brien has two chances with three-year-olds Wichita and Lope Y Fernandez, ridden by Frankie Dettori and Ryan Moore respectively, while Prix Jean Prat fourth Wooded will have Pierre-Charles Boudot in the saddle.
Spinning Memories, Batwan, Reshabar and Roncey complete the field.
