Kim Bailey, who trained outstanding Champion Hurdle winner Alderbrook, hailed Constitution Hill as the best horse he had seen after watching him win at Newcastle.

Constitution Hill achieved a Racing Post Rating of 176 in his thrashing of stablemate Epatante in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle, the highest achieved by a two-mile British-trained hurdler since records began.

Alderbrook was the previous joint record-holder on 175, along with Dato Star, but Bailey, 69, who was present at Newcastle, went away believing he had seen something particularly special from the Nicky Henderson-trained five-year-old.
