It is reasonable to describe an individual who enters racehorse ownership as a newcomer to the Turf. When Prince Khalid Abdullah made his first yearling purchases in 1977, he was anything but.
He had become enchanted by the game more than 20 years earlier. As a student in Paris he went frequently to Longchamp, where his natural curiosity was aroused by the sight of competing thoroughbreds.
