Jockey Jack Kennedy’s blockbuster start to the season has come to a juddering halt with the Irish jump jockeys’ title leader set to spend up to six weeks on the sidelines after fracturing his leg in a fall at Downpatrick on Friday.

Kennedy, 17, is among the brightest prospects riding in Ireland and his boss Gordon Elliott labelled him “amazing” for the summer form he has shown to top the championship.

His odds to be crowned champion have tumbled to 7-2 from 50-1 at the start of the season, with Davy Russell and Ruby Walsh unable to match his flying start to the campaign.
