Monsieur D'Arque
Fourth, Catterick, Tuesday
Monsieur D'Arque started the season running in the Greatwood Hurdle. Next time he might be able to run in a 0-115 handicap chase and it looks like his stable are in the process of finding the right race for him.
Having been easy to back, he travelled comfortably through the race at Catterick, won by the fairly impressive Almazhar Garde, before losing his place with an untidy jump two out, after which he was allowed to come home in his own time.
Monsieur D'Arque holds an entry at Newbury on Saturday, but there are weaker races for him to contest and it should not be long until he gets back in the habit of winning.

Bobo Mac
Second, Ludlow, Wednesday
While the winner, Roll Again, demanded your attention in this race – he cruised clear in the straight having made all the running – it should not be forgotten that Bobo Mac underlined his progressive profile in second and should be up to winning again when he does not bump into one.
The time before, Bobo Mac had essentially dotted up over the same course and distance and was given a 10lb hit by the handicapper.
That he was able to run with such credit in a stronger race says plenty about his current form. You do not have to work too hard to imagine him going forward again given how smoothly he moved into the race and left the rest behind.

Papa Tango Charly
Second, Newbury, Wednesday
Given the excitement building around The Big Breakaway, Papa Tango Charly’s effort in second has perhaps been left somewhat underappreciated.
Papa Tango Charly did offer some fight however and the winner at least had to find another gear from the penultimate flight. A race of this nature and more looks well within his grasp as he continues his development.

Time Flies By
Third, Ascot, Friday
Despite facing such a tough assignment on his hurdling debut, four-year-old Time Flies By acquitted himself as well as could have been expected.
His jumping was relatively slow throughout, notably ballooning the first two, but between the obstacles and without any persuasion from the saddle, he was able to make up valuable ground to challenge his better-fancied rivals.
A classy individual in bumpers, with a close defeat to Israel Champ now looking particularly strong form, breaking his duck over obstacles should be no chore if dropped in class. He can make his mark at a high level, especially once stepped up in trip.
