Jump to it! Racing Post's festive must-have is back for another year
Racing's must-have festive fashion item is back and one of the sport's most worthy causes stands to benefit once again.
The Racing Post's Christmas jumpers return for a fourth year on Thursday morning, with four new designs created by some familiar names and one Post reader.
Top jockey Sam Twiston-Davies, Pricewise tipster Tom Segal and cartoonist Darren ‘Birdie’ Bird worked with the Racing Post on three of the festive knits, which feature Twiston-Davies himself, as well as top chaser Thistlecrack and star filly Enable.
Joining them is Nathan Ewers of Gloucester, who submitted his winning design to the #Jumpers4Racing competition.
The Racing Post's Christmas jumpers have raised £40,000 for various racing causes since their launch in 2014 and racing fans are encouraged to invest in this year’s designs in order to add to the valuable funds raised for charity.
For the second year running, the jumpers are supporting Racing Welfare, with 100 per cent of all proceeds from their sale, less external production costs, going straight to the charity. In addition, Racing Post will donate a further £10 per entry received to the competition.
Dawn Goodfellow, Racing Welfare chief executive, said: "Everyone at Racing Welfare is thrilled to be part of the Racing Post's Christmas jumper campaign again. We’re especially grateful to Sam, Darren, Tom and Nathan for helping to create such wonderful jumpers.
"Their sale will ensure that we can continue to support so many people working behind the scenes in racing throughout the year – with services including our Christmas dinners, which are run for more than 250 retired racing staff around Britain in order to prevent social isolation and loneliness during the festive season."
Racing Post editor Bruce Millington added: "We received so many excellent designs in response to our #Jumpers4Racing competition and congratulations go to Racing Post reader Nathan Ewers, whose illustration looks fantastic in knit!
"For the second year running we’re extremely proud to be teaming up with Racing Welfare, a great cause that gives support to so many different people who are working or have worked in racing. Our sincere thanks go to all of you who are supporting the campaign."
Manufactured in Britain, the Christmas jumpers are available from 9am on Thursday at racingpost.com/shop.
Why not show your support by purchasing a jumper for £19.99 and raising awareness of the campaign on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, using the hashtag #Jumpers4Racing?
